DJ Animale Spreads Love of Music

Music bumping. Lights flashing. Crowd screaming. This is the scene for a typical night of work for local Omaha music mixer extraordinaire, DJ Animale. Born Glenn Lewis, DJ Animale, combines being a DJ with owning a small business and being a family man, all while working the normal 9 to 5 as well. Lewis is a self-taught DJ who fell into the profession almost by accident. As a member of the Sigma Lambda Beta fraternity, he often attended parties that they hosted. At one of these parties, the DJ playing the event had a family emergency and had to leave suddenly. Lewis said he had often watched the DJs closely as they performed and thought it was something that he could do, so he hopped on the turntables. The performance went so well that night, the fraternity decided to read more »

Crescent Oaks Citizen Patrol

Within every city there are multiple subdivisions, and inside each of those subdivisions are individual blocks where families do their best to create a good neighborhood in which to live. Omaha’s own Crescent Oaks subdivision (144th to 148th, West Center to Industrial Road) is no exception. Residents of this quaint area enjoy having a peaceful neighborhood and good relationships with their neighbors. These benefits rest on the fact that Crescent Oaks operates a successful neighborhood watch and citizen patrol. It all started back in 2003, after there were several break-ins in the area. A few of the residents, including current Crescent Oaks Neighborhood Association president, Dan Kane, decided they wanted to look out for their neighborhood. Kane contacted the Omaha read more »
