A lonely bicycle awaits adoption at the new Goodwill Industries facility

Did they, like all thoughtful people do, pack box after box of forgotten and forlorn “stuff” before their upcoming move and make arrangements to donate it to the fine folks at … um … er … never mind!

A half century of operations at 41st and Pacific streets comes to an end this Friday, June 18 in a ribbon-cutting and press conference event when Goodwill Industries christens their new Retail Operations Center at 72nd and F streets.

"Through this expansion, comes greater efficiency, said Randy Parks, the organization’s VP of Retail Operations, “which allows Goodwill to keep growing its mission of changing lives and strengthening the community through education, training and work.”

The 9 a.m. event at the 92,000 sq. ft. space will introduce the new home for:

• WearHouse Store - Goodwill's by-the-pound retail store (11,000 sq. ft.)
• Good Bytes Store - a recycled computer store (2,000 sq. ft.)
• E-Commerce - Goodwill's online retail store
• E-Waste - the agency's computer salvage operation
• Donation warehousing and transportation
• Salvage Operations
• Commercial Services - which includes Outsourcing, pressure washing, commercial grounds services, and Goodwill property management/maintenance

The new facility will also house Goodwill's Work Experience Training Program for youth ages 16 to 21. The program helps high school special education students who need a little extra assistance on the job to start building their job skills while they are still in school.
